There are currently two different popup eliminators being recommended by Deuce Consulting: Popup Vanish and the Google Toolbar. The first is a true popup eliminator, Popup Vanish and is developed by Kalavath Infotech. The reason this software is so great is it does not allow any popups at all unless you have added the HTTP address to the Safe List. It is also very simple to use and of course free.
Go to http://www.kalavath.co.uk/popupvanish/ or http://www.kalavath.co.uk and select the Popup Vanish download. It will download a .ZIP file, you will need to have WinZIP or another compression software installed. Once you have opened the .ZIP file you simply need to run the setup.exe file and follow the installation procedures.
It is now installed and you need to configure it to start every time Windows starts. Click on the Start button | All Programs | Popup Vanish | Popup Vanish. This will load Popup Vanish into the system tray which is located in the lower right hand corner. Hold your mouse over the icons in the system tray until you see the Popup Vanish icon. Right click this and select Settings. Place a checkmark on "Start when windows starts", this will keep Poup Vanish running whenever Windows is.
You will notice there are two lists, the Popup Blocked list and the Safe List. If you run into a site that has a popup that you need you will see it listed in the Popups Blocked list, simply double-click the site and it will be placed in your Safe List and you will be able to access it now.
The Google toolbar is a very useful toolbar for your Internet browser. It combines easy access to Google searches as well as blocking most popups. Plug this address into your browser http://toolbar.google.com/ and select Download Google toolbar. Simply follow through the installation process and you will notice a toolbar has been placed in your browser below the address bar. Part of the toolbar will say "0 Blocked" and it will count the number of popups it has blocked. If you run into a site that has a popup you need click the Blocked counter and it will display "Site popups allowed" and reload your current page.
I hope this helps to make your Internet experience a more enjoyable experience. If you have any questions on this topic or any other Computer related topic, don't hesitate to contact Deuce Consulting, LLC. at kelkoenig@deucellc.com or at 608.217.3033.
